The Invitatory is said when this is the first ‘hour’ of the day.
Psalm 95
Come, let us sing to the LORD; *
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving *
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the LORD is a great God, *
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth, *
and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it, *
and his hands have molded the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee, *
and kneel before the LORD our Maker.
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. *
Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!
Harden not your hearts,
as your forebears did in the wilderness, *
at Meribah, and on that day at Massah,
when they tempted me.
They put me to the test, *
though they had seen my works.
Forty years long I detested that generation and said, *
“This people are wayward in their hearts;
they do not know my ways.”
So I swore in my wrath, *
“They shall not enter into my rest.”
If the Invitatory is not said, then the following is used:
HYMN – Eternal Maker
Ant. 1. My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready.
Psalm 108
My heart is firmly fixed, O God, my heart is fixed; *
I will sing and make melody.
Wake up, my spirit;
awake, lute and harp; *
I myself will waken the dawn.
I will confess you among the peoples, O LORD; *
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your loving-kindness is greater than the heavens, *
and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Exalt yourself above the heavens, O God, *
and your glory over all the earth.
So that those who are dear to you may be delivered, *
save with your right hand and answer me.
God spoke from his holy place and said, *
“I will exult and parcel out Shechem;
I will divide the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine and Manasseh is mine; *
Ephraim is my helmet and Judah my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin,
on Edom I throw down my sandal to claim it, *
and over Philistia will I shout in triumph.”
Who will lead me into the strong city? *
who will bring me into Edom?
Have you not cast us off, O God? *
you no longer go out, O God, with our armies.
Grant us your help against the enemy, *
for vain is the help of man.
With God we will do valiant deeds, *
and he shall tread our enemies under foot.

Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.
Psalm Prayer
Accept the prayers of your servants, Lord, and prepare our hearts to praise your holy name. Come to our aid in time of trouble, and make us worthy to sing you songs of thanksgiving.

Ant. 1. My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready.
Ant. 2. The Lord has robed me with grace and salvation.
Canticle: Canticle: Isaiah 61
I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, and my soul will exult in my God.
For he has clothed me with the vestments of salvation,

And he has wrapped me in the clothing of justice,
like a groom arrayed with a crown, and like a bride adorned with her jewels.

For as the earth brings forth its seedlings and the garden produces its seeds, so will the Lord God bring forth justice and praise in the sight of all the nations.

For the sake of Zion, I will not be silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not rest,
until her Just One advances in splendor, and her Savior is kindled like a lamp.

And the Gentiles will see your Just One,
and all the kings will see your Renowned One.

And you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will choose.
And you shall be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

You will no longer be called Forsaken.
And your land will no longer be called Desolate.

Instead, you shall be called My Will within it, and your land shall be called Espoused.
For the Lord has been well pleased with you, and your land will be inhabited.

For the young man will live with the virgin, and your children will live with you.
And the groom will rejoice over the bride, and your God will rejoice over you.

Ant. 2. The Lord has robed me with grace and salvation.
Ant. 3. I will praise my God all the days of my life.
Psalm 146
Praise the LORD, O my soul! *
I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Put not your trust in rulers, nor in any child of earth, *
for there is no help in them.
When they breathe their last, they return to earth, *
and in that day their thoughts perish.
Happy are they who have the God of Jacob for their help! *
whose hope is in the LORD their God;
Who made heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them; *
who keeps his promise for ever;
Who gives justice to those who are oppressed, *
and food to those who hunger.
The LORD sets the prisoners free; the LORD opens the eyes of the blind; *
the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous; the LORD cares for the stranger; *
he sustains the orphan and widow,
but frustrates the way of the wicked.
The LORD shall reign for ever, *
your God, O Zion, throughout all generations.

Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm Prayer

God of glory and power, those who have put all their trust in you are happy indeed. Shine the brightness of your light on us, that we may love you always with a pure heart.

Ant. 3. I will praise my God all the days of my life.
Deuteronomy 4:39-40a
Know, and fix in your heart, that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that there is no other. You must keep his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you today.
Ant. 4. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the house of his servant David.
Luke 1:68-79
The Messiah and his forerunner.
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people;
And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us, in the house of his servant David;
As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, which have been since the world began;
That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us.
To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
To perform the oath which he swore to our forefather Abraham, that he would give us;
That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear;
In holiness and righteousness before him, in all the days of our life.
And thou, child shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people for the remission of their sins,
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us;
To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, *
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now, *
and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Ant. 4. Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the house of his servant David.
Christ, the splendor of the Father’s glory, enlightens us with his word. With deep love we call upon him:
Hear us, King of eternal glory.

Blessed are you, the alpha and the omega of our faith,
– for you called us out of darkness into your marvelous light.
Hear us, King of eternal glory.

You enabled the blind to see, the deaf to hear,
– help our unbelief.
Hear us, King of eternal glory.

Lord, keep us in your love, preserve our community,
– do not let us become separated from one another.
Hear us, King of eternal glory.

Give us strength in temptation, endurance in trial,
– and gratitude in prosperity.
Hear us, King of eternal glory.

(And now let us pray as the Lord told us:)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Lord our God, help us to prepare for the coming of Christ your Son.
May he find us waiting, eager in joyful prayer.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

May the Lord + bless us,
protect us from all evil
and bring us to everlasting life.
– Amen.
