Psalm 141
O LORD, I call to you; come to me quickly; *
hear my voice when I cry to you.
Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as incense, *
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a watch before my mouth, O LORD,
and guard the door of my lips; *
let not my heart incline to any evil thing.
Let me not be occupied in wickedness with evildoers, *
nor eat of their choice foods.
Let the righteous smite me in friendly rebuke;
let not the oil of the unrighteous anoint my head; *
for my prayer is continually against their wicked deeds.

Psalm Prayer

Lord, be near to all who call upon you in truth and increase the dedication of those who revere you. Hear their prayers and save them that they may always love you and praise your holy name.

Canticle: Revelation 15:3-4
Great and wonderful are your deeds, •

Romans 8:1-2, 10-11
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who are not walking according to the flesh. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin and death. But if Christ is within you, then the body is indeed dead, concerning sin, but the spirit truly lives, because of justification. But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead lives within you, then he who raised up Jesus Christ from the dead shall also enliven your mortal bodies, by means of his Spirit living within you.

Luke 1:46-55
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

The Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
In every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

INTERCESSIONS
Let us pray to Christ, the source of hope for all who know his name:
Lord, have mercy.

Christ, our frail humanity is prone to fall,
– strengthen us through your help.
Lord, have mercy.

Left to itself, our nature is inclined to sin,
– let your love always restore it to grace.
Lord, have mercy.

Lord, sin offends you, repentance pleases you,
– do not punish us in your wrath even when we have sinned.
Lord, have mercy.

You forgave the penitent woman, and placed the wandering sheep on your shoulders,
– do not deprive us of your mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

By your death on the cross you opened the gates of heaven,
– admit into your kingdom all who hoped in you.
Lord, have mercy.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
(And now let us pray as the Lord told us:)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
CONCLUDING PRAYER
Lord our God, help us to prepare for the coming of Christ your Son.
May he find us waiting, eager in joyful prayer.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
