Psalm 141
O LORD, I call to you; come to me quickly; *
hear my voice when I cry to you.
Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as incense, *
the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a watch before my mouth, O LORD,
and guard the door of my lips; *
let not my heart incline to any evil thing.
Let me not be occupied in wickedness with evildoers, *
nor eat of their choice foods.

Psalm Prayer

God of power and mercy, though your Son’s passion and resurrection you have freed us from the bonds of death and the anguish of separation from you. Be ever with us on our pilgrimage; then we shall sing rather than weep. Keep our feet from stumbling, so that we may be able to follow you until we come to eternal rest.

Psalm Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, you have prepared a quiet place for us in your Father’s eternal home. Watch over our welfare on this perilous journey, shade us from the burning heat of day, and keep our lives free of evil until the end.

Hebrews 8:1b-3a
We have so great a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of Majesty in the heavens, who is the minister of holy things, and of the true tabernacle, which was established by the Lord, not by man. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices.

Luke 1:46-55
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

He has mercy on those who fear him

He has shown the strength of his arm,

INTERCESSIONS
Christ is the way, the truth and the life. Let us praise him, and say:
Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray to you, Lord Jesus, for all ministers of your Church,
– as they break for us the bread of life, may they themselves receive nourishment and strength.
Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray for the whole Christian people, that all may be worthy of their calling,
– and safeguard their unity in the Spirit by the bond of peace.
Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray for those who govern us, that they may temper justice with mercy,
– and promote harmony and peace throughout the world.
Son of the living God, bless your people.

We pray for ourselves, that our hearts may be purified to sing your praises in the communion of saints,
– may we be reunited with our deceased brothers and sisters, whom we commend to your loving kindness.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,

CONCLUDING PRAYER
Lord our God, help us to prepare for the coming of Christ your Son.
May he find us waiting, eager in joyful prayer.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
